Toronto police arrest man in several hate-motivated attacks on Muslims

TORONTO: Chandler Marshall, a Canadian man, has been arrested by police in Toronto after being charged with several counts in connection with hate-motivated crimes that occurred outside a Toronto Mosque and two other areas. In a statement released on Saturday night, Toronto Police said that at approximately 6:40am, officers were called to the Toronto Islamic Centre (TIC), located close to the intersection of Yonge Street and Davenport Road. TIC issued a statement which was shared by the National Council for Canadian Muslims (NCCM) on X, formerly known as Twitter, with details of the Marshall’s attack where he vandalized the Centre and yelled Islamophobic slurs and threats at congregants. “This is not the first time TIC has faced Islamophobia. Punjab CM opens OPD, indoor block of Institute of Cardiology Multan.

MULTAN: Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi inaugurated the OPD and indoor block of the Institute of Cardiology Multan under its expansion project. The CM also announced the upgradation of the cardiology emergency along with increasing the number of beds from 60 to 120. Mohsin Naqvi directed to complete the upgradation work by the mid of January. He visited the Expansion Project of OPD and Indoor Block of Multan Cardiology. He expressed his dissatisfaction over the construction quality of floors and stairs and ordered to immediately improve their quality. He inquired after the health of patients in the cardiology, emergency, OPD and indoor block. The patients endorsed the availability of medicines along with the provision of medical test facility. LAHORE: Amid calls for a level playing field by rivals, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Information Secretary Marriyum Aurangzeb said on Sunday that her party’s political opponents are foreseeing Nawaz Sharif take oath as the next prime minister after the February 8 elections. Hrithik Roshan, John Abraham mourn loss of 'Dhoom' director Sanjay Gadhvi

Hrithik Roshan expressed his deep grief over the sudden death of Sanjay Gadhvi, director of the famous Bollywood movie,   Dhoom . The  Bang Bang  actor took to X, formerly known as Twitter and penned a touching tribute for his late friend, recalling sweet memories from the set of   Dhoom 2. He wrote, "Deeply saddened by the loss of my dear friend Sanjay Gadhvi. Forever grateful for the moments we shared." "He was instrumental in bringing out the Aryan in me. Couldn’t have done it without him. Rest in peace my friend. You will be missed," Roshan added. Another Indian actor, John Abraham who was also a part of 2004 action thriller film paid his respects to the late director. Taking to X, he wrote, "Remember the times I spent with you on the film closest to my heart #Dhoom. May the angels always ride with you. Rest in peace Sanjay Gadhvi." Reportedly, the Bollywood filmmaker died today i.e. on November 19 due to cardiac arrest. He was 57.

Cipher case hearing adjourned till Nov 21

ISLAMABAD. The Special Court established under the Official Secrets Act on Friday postponed hearing of the cipher case without any proceedings until Nov 21 in Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail. "The cipher case hearing against former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and former foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi was deferred owing to a stay order issued by the Islamabad High Court." Special Court judge Abual Hasnat Zulqarnain conducted hearing of the case on the jail premises. Former first lady Bushra Bibi and PTI chairman’s sisters were also present in the jail during the hearing. FIA Special Prosecutor Zulfiqar Naqvi told media that the hearing was adjourned in the light of IHC’s stay order. No witness was produced by the prosecution side as well.

PCB appoints Wahab Riaz as new chief selector amid ongoing reshuffle post-World Cup debacle.

  LAHORE: Following the Pakistan team's humiliating exit from the World Cup 2023, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed former left-arm fast bowler Wahab Riaz as the new chief selector. The development comes as the post had been vacant after former skipper Inzamam Ul Haq decided to step down as chief selector on October 30 following "conflict of interest" allegations against him. The PCB has established a five-member committee after it was revealed that Inzamam was a partner in Yazoo International Ltd — a players' management company owned by Talha Rehmani which represents notable Pakistani cricketers, including Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Shah Afridi. RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has decided to initiate legal proceedings against a top American diplomat, Donald Lu, in a US court on the allegations of toppling his government, the deposed prime minister's sister Aleema Khan said on Friday, Aleema shared the future strategy of the PTI chief — who remains incarcerated in the Adiala jail — during a press conference after a meeting with Khan in the prison. “[The] PTI chairman said if he does not get justice from Pakistani courts then he would file a case against Donald Lu in US courts,” the sister said, adding that the PTI believes that the US embassy in Pakistan was completely involved in the conspiracy to topple Khan’s government.
